Range of slide bearings
We are able to offer our customers a wide range of materials for high-quality applications by optimising the characteristics of engineering plastics by creating compounds, in which exact quantities of solid, fibre-reinforced lubricants are added to the raw material. These compounds are used in the standard Postamid® Slide Bearing product range. The product palette comprises a standard range with and without flanges as per the DIN 1494 / ISO 3547 standard (thin-walled bearings).
The disadvantages normally associated with synthetic materials are greatly reduced through material development and through an appropriate bearing design. Thus the bearings as per DIN 1494 / ISO 3547 are thin-walled and can be combined with highly heat-conductive material compounds (Postamid® 3102) if so required. This version enables quick heat removal, thereby increasing the loading capacity of the bearing.
We can also offer customised solutions for customer-specific applications, in which a variety of plastics may be used.

Development of compounds
In collaboration with specialised plastic suppliers (compound manufacturers), we can offer options for innovative plastic solutions for special applications. We are constantly testing new compounds and have built-up a database that helps us clearly understand the tribological characteristics of plastics. As a result, we better understand the friction and wearing characteristics in standard and specific applications.
The LPV-Tribometer was developed to measure friction and wear of bearing bushes made of plastics. The ingenious design was developed by the Laboratorium voor Tribotechniek (Tribotechnology laboratory) at the TU (Technical University) of Delft, the Netherlands, and the measurements were carried out within Posthumus Plastics.
The entire process of product development, mould manufacturing, and finally injection moulding is all done in-house, which has the following advantages:
